Tony Levin Drum Prize
Jazz drum legend and much-loved Birmingham Conservatoire tutor Tony Levin passed away in February 2011 but, for us, his legacy still lives on.
A unique opportunity to hear two national stars, Jean Toussaint - sax and Arne Somogyi - bass, perform in front of Conservatoire students competing for the prestigious Tony Levin Drum Prize. The finalists will perform on the day, and will be judged by associates of the great second City swinger himself. The result is a high energy concert and a spotlight on future careers in jazz drumming: a 'happening' as Tony would say. A cash prize of £100, towards the purchase of a new cymbal, will be awarded to the winner.
