Charukesi

This new band led by Martin Speke Charukesi as a newly formed project - a pared-down version of Martin Speake’s previous 7-piece group ‘Fever Pitch’. It is a groove based band inspired by Indian/Arabic/Jazz music. The band name derives from the term Charukesi and is a range in Carnatic music (a musical scale of South Indian classical music).  The Band showcased during the London Jazz Festival, Charukesi was formed to reflect Martin’s interest in rhythmic music from around the world including Arabic, Indian and Turkish influences.
