James Owston – ‘Songs from An Imaginary Childhood’ - with Trish Clowes

A Jazz Central gig organised by Jazz Midlands and Birmingham Jazz showcasing the Mentors work with their emerging star Mentee.

Since graduating from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2019, bassist James Owston has fast become a well-known face on the UK jazz scene. As well as being a prominent sideman, notably playing and recording with Clark Tracey, Paul Dunmall, Neil Yates, Xhosa Cole, Alex Clarke, and many more, James leads his own band - the James Owston Trio -and has written music for a range of ensembles. He was a finalist in the 2018 BBC Young Jazz Musician. Over the course of the project James has been working closely with saxophonist and mentor Trish Clowes, through the Jazz Central Mentoring Programme for Jazz Midlands
