Joe was born and raised in Kings Heath, Birmingham and started playing piano at aged 7. He originally studied classical before becoming interested in blues and jazz. He has played in many venues across Birmingham and the West Midlands, including Symphony Hall, Adrian Boult Hall and numerous pubs and clubs. At  18, he was auditioned and gained a place at Leeds Conservatoire. After the first year of University, was hired to go and teach music at one of the most prestigious summer camps in America-French Woods Festival of Performing Arts in upstate New York. In 2020 he graduated from University, obtaining a BA Hons with Jazz and moved back home to Birmingham. I currently teach piano in schools and privately, working for Warwickshire County Council and George Dixon Academy. I also gig in and around the West Midlands- including headlining Bromsgrove Jazz Festival in November 2021. I currently play at a monthly jazz night in Birmingham at Fletchers Bar and Eatery in Kings Heath-Fletchers Candlelit Jazz Club with The Joe Masterson Trio.
